Down-the-Line Golf Video: Aligning the Camera with the Lesson
Where should you put a down-the-line golf camera?
Ask your instructor which line the camera should follow, then keep that position consistent. Moving the phone a little to one side can make the same swing look different, so save a note about where you put it.
Put it into practice
- Have the coach choose the viewing reference before positioning a phone behind the player.
- Place the support outside the hitting zone and check the club remains visible through the finish.
- Save a setup photograph or written position note so the next lesson can reproduce the perspective.
Choose evidence the recording can actually show
Use the practice mat edge or a venue-approved reference in the setup note. When comparing recordings, flag a changed camera height before discussing apparent path changes. The note explains perspective; it does not calibrate anatomical angles.

Questions coaches ask
Should every down-the-line phone use the same height?
A universal height does not answer every lesson question. The instructor should choose the reference, then keep camera and player relationships documented for comparable attempts.
What should be saved with the clip?
Keep the target reference, camera position, lens and drill description. Those notes help explain whether a changed appearance may come from a changed view.
A mistake to avoid
Moving the camera sideways can make a swing look different even when the player's action has not changed.
From idea to recording
Try it with VidFuego
Add your down-the-line phone to a Squad Fuse and give the other phone a different job, such as showing the golfer from the front.
Record synchronized angles from multiple supported devices. Free includes a two-camera Nearby session. Higher camera counts and Anywhere hosting depend on your plan.
Before the full take
Agree on the point you want to teach, then put the phones where they can show it. Keep them outside the swing and ball paths, and save a quick note about the positions for next time.
Record a short test, review the picture and sound, then adjust the setup. A rehearsal on your actual devices is the quickest way to check whether the workflow fits the scene.
