Framing Subjects for a 9:16 Multi-Angle Video

How do you frame subjects for a vertical multi-angle video?

Frame for the final pane, not just the source camera. A vertical multi-angle video works best when one view establishes the activity and another makes the important detail large enough to understand.

Put it into practice

  1. Assign a context job and a detail job before placing the participating phones.
  2. Rehearse gestures, leaning and object movement with the intended portrait composition.
  3. Review a saved Fuse on a phone and reposition any angle whose useful action becomes too small.

Make each pane answer a different question

For a craft lesson, let the context view explain who is working and the close view show the tool meeting the material. The detail angle should prioritize that contact point rather than duplicate the presenter's whole upper body. If the viewer cannot identify the step, simplify the scene instead of adding another camera.

Questions creators ask

Which view should establish the activity?

Use a view that identifies the presenter and task, then let the detail view show the critical action. Check both at their actual pane size.

Why should you inspect the final layout during rehearsal?

A clear full-camera preview can become unreadable in a smaller pane. Review a short Fuse before recording the complete explanation.

A mistake to avoid

Two attractive wide shots may add little information once they share a portrait canvas.

Before the full take

Review a saved portrait export at phone size. Check faces, demonstrations, interface overlays and audio together before uploading the same file to each destination.

Record a short test, review the picture and sound, then adjust the setup. A rehearsal on your actual devices is the quickest way to check whether the workflow fits the scene.
