Recording Snatch and Clean Practice from Complementary Angles
How do you keep a snatch or clean visible on video?
Leave room for the bar's highest position and the lifter's recovery steps. Start with protected positions outside the platform, then check that your cameras actually show the part of the lift you want to discuss.
Put it into practice
- Place every support outside the lifting platform, bar drop zone and coach's working route.
- Test the tallest bar position and widest foot movement in the planned exercise.
- Record separated attempts with enough context to identify the variation and starting position.
Choose evidence the recording can actually show
Do not add an overhead camera above a loaded platform to obtain a novel view. When existing protected positions cannot show the question, change the drill's approved recording plan with the coach instead of improvising a hazardous mount.

Questions coaches ask
What needs to stay visible in an Olympic lift?
The coach's chosen action, including relevant setup, bar movement and recovery. Frame the full expected range without placing supports in platform or drop areas.
Should an overhead phone be added?
Only an existing venue-approved arrangement should be considered under its operating process. This guide does not endorse improvised mounts above loaded bars or athletes.
A mistake to avoid
A close crop can lose the catch or recovery and make an incomplete lift appear complete.
From idea to recording
Try it with VidFuego
Capture the snatch or clean drill in Squad Fuses. Watch the full attempt before selecting a close moment, and leave the training decisions with the supervising coach.
Record synchronized angles from multiple supported devices. Free includes a two-camera Nearby session. Higher camera counts and Anywhere hosting depend on your plan.
Before the full take
Choose the lift and load as you normally would. Put the phones where they can see the full movement without blocking the bar, rack or spotters, then check a short test together.
Record a short test, review the picture and sound, then adjust the setup. A rehearsal on your actual devices is the quickest way to check whether the workflow fits the scene.
