Agility Drills: Recording a Clear Change-of-Direction Task
How do you film a change-of-direction drill with enough context?
Show the athlete entering, changing direction and leaving the drill. Keep the route and instruction with the clip so your coach can discuss the actual task rather than an isolated foot position.
Put it into practice
- Have the coach define the drill and approve support locations beyond every possible run-through path.
- Frame the entry, change and exit in a complete rehearsal before recording the set.
- Label direction, cue and attempt order so the athlete knows what is being reviewed.
Choose evidence the recording can actually show
When the route or instruction changes, label the attempt as a different task. Do not compare selected frames as if the athlete received identical information. The coach can use the video to ask a better question rather than infer a physical diagnosis.

Questions coaches ask
Does an agility clip diagnose a physical deficit?
No. It documents an assigned route and visible response. Clinical or capacity conclusions require appropriate assessment beyond a selected foot position in a phone video.
What must change when a drill cue changes?
Label the new task. Similar camera positions do not make attempts equivalent when the athlete receives different instructions, routes or information.
A mistake to avoid
A close crop of one foot removes the context needed to understand the athlete's task.

Try it with VidFuego
Use Squad Fuses for two fixed views of a small drill area. Label a changed cue or route instead of presenting it as the same task.
Record synchronized angles from multiple supported devices. Free includes a two-camera Nearby session. Higher camera counts and Anywhere hosting depend on your plan.
Before the full take
Pick the part of the drill you want to discuss, then agree on phone positions with the session leader. Keep equipment out of run-off areas and check what each camera misses.
Record a short test, review the picture and sound, then adjust the setup. A rehearsal on your actual devices is the quickest way to check whether the workflow fits the scene.
